Translating for International Institutions

Institutional translation is the translation performed for institutions which represent, interact, or serve the public. EU, ministerial or translations performed for international organisations all require a high degree of competence, since they convey the “art of government by translation”.

Especially in countries with cultural minorities, institutions employ translation in performing their governing function and they, so to say, govern by translation, through the work of professional, knowledgeable, experienced and trusted translators.

This does not mean that institutional translation does not take into account technological advancements: The majority of the authorities we work with, have implemented a translation workflow which included AI, Machine Translation, Translation Memories and Controlled Terminology. All this helps produce coherent, qualitative results at scale.

ILT has ongoing contracts with a number of EU agencies and institutions as well as with national and local authorities.
